The Hopton Arms has been carefully restored to create an authentic
Victorian atmosphere. The original fireplaces, beams, doors, bar
counter, flooring and oak benches have all been renovated and
reinstated. No detail has been overlooked. Wrought iron
handles adorn heavy oak doors, fire baskets sit by inviting open fires
and historic pictures, which had been hidden away, now have pride of
place on the wood panelled walls.
In the bar
visitors can enjoy one of the many local ales such as Parish Bitter or ciders
such as Stowford Press – after all this is the heart of the hop and cider-apple county.
Of course all the usual wines, beers and spirits, including a selection
of single malts are available. Delicious
bar snacks are served every lunch time and evening until 9.30pm. Children’s
options are also available. A typical menu includes homemade Soup of the Day
served with crusty rolls, Steak and Guinness pie, Sandwiches and Ploughman’s
